We offer courses aimed at beginners as part of ANU Sport’s Lifestyle Program, which provides short courses that introduce participants to new interests and activities.
We hold beginner courses at the start of each semester. Participation is capped at 30 participants across two sessions.
Note: Beginner course participants must be over 16 years old. If you're younger than this and you're really interested in learning to fence, send us an email — we can help put you in touch with potential coaches.
Introduction to Fencing — Block Two Beginner Course 2018
This is an eight week course designed to introduce you to the sport of fencing, including opportunities to try all three weapons. The course focuses on basic technique mainly using the foil, with an introduction to the other two weapons and bouting in the last weeks of the course.
The course is run in two sessions to help keep class sizes low.
- Dates: 31 July — 02 October * no training over the mid-semester teaching break
- Time: Two streams, Tuesday 7.15pm–8.30pm and Tuesday 8.30pm–9.45pm
- Cost: $90
Please wear sports shoes, and long pants that are easy to move in (e.g. track pants). Bring a protective glove (e.g. gardening glove) if you have one. All other gear will be provided.
